ABOUT

MUN (Model United Nations)

Model United Nations (MUN) is a dynamic simulation of the United Nations that enhances public speaking, quick thinking, active listening, research, collaboration, negotiation, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills. MUN fosters confident, open-minded students who are deeply concerned about global issues.
The HSI MUN Club, a student-led initiative, meets weekly to train members in skills and strategies for MUN conferences. Volunteers often lead these sessions, honing their leadership abilities. Our students actively participate in numerous local MUN conferences, engaging in formal debates, lobbying, bloc formation, and resolution writing. Exceptional students are frequently selected for the night crisis, a special committee for top delegates, resulting in many accolades for HSI at each conference.
Internationally, our MUNners participate in HMUN (Harvard MUN) India and HMUN China. Senior students often serve as Assistant Directors, collaborating closely with Harvard University students. The Beijing conference includes a cultural tour, exposing students to local traditions, architecture, and cuisine. The highlight of the HSI MUN Club is SpringMUN, an annual inter-school event. Office bearers work diligently for months to organise this major event, with senior students training younger delegates. The two-day conference is filled with spirited debates, skillful negotiation, and spontaneous crises, creating an exciting and enriching experience for all participants.
